DESIGN-BUILD TO REPAIR SQUADRON OPS, BUILDING 282

The scope of this project was to provide design services to include Architectural, Communications Infrastructure, Electrical, Fire Detection/Suppression, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Security to perform the necessary renovation and replacement to meet the 552d Air Control Wing (ACW) Special Access Program, Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).  This “SUPER-SCIF” provides the necessary security for crew mission planning spaces of the E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) mission, platform upgrades, intelligence research/analysis and Advanced Programs initiative.

Building 282 is a two-story facility that was originally constructed in 1976 and is approximately 63,600 Gross Square Feet (GSF). This project included the renovation of approx. 14,000 GSF of existing office space on the first floor to repair secure areas in facility 282, Squadron Operations. These repairs are necessary to meet mission security requirements of JAFAN 6/9 AND ICD/ICS 705.  The first floor was divided up into 4 main quadrants all separated by corridors and a main auditorium on the south side. Main entrances to the facility were from the north and the south sides with additional egress and ingress points on the east and west. No electronic devices are allowed throughout the space.

This project was administered by the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) and coordinated with Tinker Air Force Base Civil Engineering Squadron (552 ACW/CE).
